Agatha Christie’s house, Greenway, is just a 20 minute pleasant ferry ride up the Dart from QuerQuay Bolthole. So whenever you come to stay be sure to visit the house. Agatha called it ‘the loveliest place in the world’ and lots of our guests have enjoyed the house and lovely gardens.
Agatha Christie Festival
If you come to stay in September you can enjoy a lot more Chrstie-related fun at the Agatha Christie Festival which runs from 14 to 18th September. Torbay becomes the murder mystery capital of the world for a while.
There’s Literary Trail through the English Riviera and South Devon revealing the inspirations behind over 20 Agatha Christie novels. See the original Majestic Hotel – aka the Imperial Hotel in Torquay – which features in The Body in the Library and Peril At End House. Take a trip on the train to Churston Station, and a walk down to Elberry Cove – both of which appear as themselves in The ABC Murders. Even Kents Cavern in Torquay provided the inspiration for Hempsley Cavern in The Man in the Brown Suit.
There’s also a range of not-to-be-missed special events including the Murder Mystery Dining TrainBoard the Riviera Belle Dining Train for an evening of murder and mystery in conjunction with the Candlelight Theatre Company with cuisine provided by Hennessy Restaurant in Torquay.
